Our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Adult Gerontology Primary Care program specialty prepares nurses for advanced primary care practice with a focus on chronic disease prevention and management across the adult lifespan.

Curriculum
Study on Your Schedule
Take the next step in your career with a course of study designed for you. We offer both full- and part-time Adult Gerontology Primary Care programs. We also offer Post-Graduate Certificate for those who have certification in another specialty outside of Adult Gero. Graduates are prepared to sit for the Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner exam administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Exam.
Veterans Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership for Graduate Education (VANAP-GE)
Students admitted to this program are also eligible to apply for the Veteran's Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership for Graduate Education Scholars Program (VANAP-GE) that prepare nurse practitioners to provide specialized holistic and integrated care for the veteran population.
Clinical Practice
Simulation & Clinical Opportunities
You’ll graduate with more than 750 hours of directly-supervised clinical practice in primary care and a range of specialty areas with nurse practitioner, PA, and physician preceptors. Our network of leading health care partners provide a rich variety of diverse clinical experiences. Next-generation simulation resources at the Emory Nursing Learning Center (ENLC) set the standard for nursing education.
Complete Rotations in Specialty Areas
You’ll have the opportunity to do clinical work in a range of specialty areas with physician and acute care nurse practitioner preceptors. Sites include hospitals and many specialty practices in the metropolitan-Atlanta area.
Provide Care in a Range of Settings
Emory’s top clinical site partners — public health departments, hospitals, community-based health centers, Veteran’s Administration services, private practices, and more — prepare you to lead in any environment.
Practice in State-of-the-Art Facilities
Develop your skills at the Emory Nursing Learning Center, which features fully equipped operating and trauma rooms as well as hospital-style sim labs with high-fidelity manikins and next generation technology

As this specialty population grows and needs dynamic healthcare solutions, graduates of this program are prepared to improve the care needs of this diverse population—through in-depth study of disease trends, evidence based guidelines, and preservation of physical, mental, environmental, and social function through end-of-life care. Graduates of this program are prepared for advanced practice roles in a wide variety of ambulatory health care settings.

Admissions
Requirements
To be considered for MSN admission, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, NLNAC)
- An unencumbered RN license in the state of Georgia or a multistate RN license
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Application for admission
- $50 application fee
- Official transcripts from each school attended
- Resume
- Personal statement
- 2 to 3 references (preference for at least one to be a nursing supervisor)
- Students with international nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools for previous nursing coursework.
- Students with international transcripts for non-nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from World Education Services for previous non-nursing coursework.
- TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores are required if English is a second language. View Emory University's accepted tests policy.
Preferred Method: Choose Emory University - School of Nursing in the electronic transcript systems or have your school email your official transcripts to nursingquestions@emory.edu.
If your school does not participate in the electronic transcript system or cannot email your transcripts, please have them mail a hard copy to:

Not every state will allow a student to enroll in a distance education program or to participate in a clinical placement within the state. Please check that your state is eligible, and contact the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs if your state is not on this list.
Applicants to any of our distance-accessible courses / programs that may lead to professional licensure or certification should become familiar with the regulations governing distance accessible programs in their state. Licensure requirements vary from state to state and by professional organization. Prospective students residing in states other than Georgia should be aware of their state’s Board of Nursing and Department of Education rules and regulations.
