Program Overview
Our Doctor of Nursing Practice Program prepares nurses to transform clinical leadership and positively impact patient outcomes and improve health care delivery systems. The program delivers a world-class education that helps graduates on the forefront of the ever-changing health care landscape. The program has two entry points - post-BSN/post-MN and post-masters.

Post-BSN/Post-MN DNP
This entry point is designed for students who have previously completed their BSN or MN degrees. We offer full- and part-time Post-BSN and Post-MN DNP in the following specialty tracks:

Admissions
Requirements
To be considered for admission, you will need to meet the following requirements:
Post-BSN/Post-MN DNP
- Master of Nursing or BSN from an accredited College or University
- An unencumbered RN license in the state of Georgia or a multistate RN license
- If applying for ENP, AGAC-NP, NNP, OR PNP-AC, you must have 1-2 years of documented clinical experience
Post-Masters DNP
- MSN from an accredited College or University (APRN or Nursing Administration/Management)
- Unencumbered RN license in the state(s) in which you will be completing your clinical training/project
- Out of state students should check with their state board of nursing to confirm state authorization and State Board of Nursing requirements are met prior to enrollment.
- Nursing practice experience
- Verification of graduate clinical hours from MSN program
*Applicants who do not have APRN licensure/certification, or who earned fewer than 500 graduate level nursing clinical hours as part of their Master’s degree, will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Application for admission
- $50 application fee
- Official transcripts from each school attended
- Curricula Vitae or resume
- A personal statement describing why you want to be a student in the Emory DNP program along with a brief statement of your project interests for practice, process, or systems-based health and healthcare improvement (500 words)
- References:
- Post-BSN/Post-MN: 2 to 3 references (preference for at least one to be a nursing supervisor)
- Post-Masters: Three (3) Professional references, one from program director (if graduated within the last 3yrs); one from previous faculty; one from current employer/physician collaborator.
- Students with international nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools for previous nursing coursework.
- Students with international transcripts for non-nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from World Education Services for previous non-nursing coursework.
- TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores are required if English is a second language. View Emory University's accepted tests policy.
- This program requires students to test within the United States

Policies & Guidelines
Not every state will allow a student to enroll in a distance education program or to participate in a clinical placement within the state. Please check that your state is eligible, and contact the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs if your state is not on this list.
Applicants to any of our distance-accessible courses / programs that may lead to professional licensure or certification should become familiar with the regulations governing distance accessible programs in their state. Licensure requirements vary from state to state and by professional organization. Prospective students residing in states other than Georgia should be aware of their state’s Board of Nursing and Department of Education rules and regulations.
