Program Overview
Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Transfer Option is available to students who have 60 semester hours of graded undergraduate credit and who wish to begin a career in nursing.

Curriculum
First, the Prerequisites
- The first two years of general education prerequisites are taken at any accredited college or university.
- Students may apply and be admitted to the nursing program while the prerequisites are in progress.
- All required courses must be completed before enrolling in the BSN program in the fall semester.
- The School of Nursing selects applicants who have the greatest potential for success in the BSN program.
Second, the Nursing Education
- In the remaining two years of college, you’ll learn the practice of nursing in clinical and classroom settings. The nursing program is designed to be completed in four semesters of full-time enrollment.
- Graduates of the BSN program are eligible to take the NCLEX examination to become a Registered Nurse in any U.S. state. BSN graduates can work in a wide array of practice areas in health care and beyond.
Plan of Study
This program is an on-campus, full-time program. Students will be immersed in the Emory Nursing culture and will have classroom, simulation, and clinical instruction.

Admissions
Admissions Requirements
To be considered for admission, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Complete the prerequisites (see prerequisite information) with a grade of C or higher by the start date of the BSN program
- Applicants with a cumulative GPA below a 3.5 are required to submit test scores. Students are encouraged to submit SAT, ACT, or GRE test scores that fall within the 50th-99th percentile of all test takers. Individuals taking the TEAS are encouraged to obtain adjusted individual total scores of 90%.
To be considered for admission to the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, you must submit the following items:
- Application for Admission
- $50 Application Fee
- Official transcripts from each school attended
- Students with international transcripts must provide an evaluation from World Education Services (www.wes.org).
- Resume
- Official test score report, which includes TEAS, SAT, ACT, or GRE
Only one of the test scores listed is required
Students with test scores older than 5 years are encouraged to register for the TEAS Test - TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores are required if English is a second language. Read Emory University's accepted tests policy here.
Please note that we can only accept coursework from regionally accredited colleges and universities.
Admission decisions will be based upon candidate competitiveness as well as space availability. Applicants could potentially be placed on a waitlist. Decisions for waitlisted applicants are announced as seats become available, up to the first day of orientation.

Students current enrolled at Agnes Scott College or Spelman College should contact the admission team about partnership program criteria for admission.
Prerequisite Requirements
Students applying to the BSN Transfer Option must have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of graded college course credit.
The School of Nursing does not accept pass/fail grades for prerequisite coursework nor any additional courses included in the 60-credit hour requirement. You may submit an application for admission with the courses in progress, but all prerequisites must be complete with a grade of C or higher by the time you plan on beginning the nursing program.
