Bio
Maggie Payne, DNP, is a pediatric nurse practitioner, clinical faculty member, and owner of a rural health practice with decades of teaching and clinical experience. Dr. Payne frequently mentors graduate students who benefit from her considerable expertise as a clinician and educator. She has presented extensively on pediatric infectious disease, vaccine hesitancy, and antibiotic use in primary care. In collaboration with DBHDD Georgia, she developed and coordinates a web-based intensive, comprehensive training program for nurses who oversee the care of vulnerable persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In concert with the Lillian Carter Center for Global Health at Emory and with the Foundation for Peace International, Dr. Payne created and successfully launched pediatric pop-up clinics and pop-up laboratories for people in the Dominican Republic. She is known for her expertise in rural health care - she successfully transformed her rural practice into a federally certified rural health clinic, drawing from years of experience with developing protocols and procedures to comply with federal mandates such as CLIA and OSHA.
She was recognized by HRSA's rural health division for her unique, MI approach to vaccine hesitancy and was one of two Georgia sites visited by HRSA and NACHC to showcase creative and innovative uses for rural health funding.
Dr. Payne is a lifelong learner who relishes the opportunity to mentor nursing learners, translating classroom theory into active, real-world challenges as they arise during simulated learning experiences and in the clinic. She has taught a myriad of pre-and post-licensure classes and is a scholarly mentor for DNP students.

Teaching
I am a pediatric clinical and seasoned educator who serves as an expert mentor for pre- and post-licensure nursing students. My goal is to facilitate the development of future nursing leaders as critical thinkers, providing them with a solid, evidence-based foundation in healthcare and mentoring them as they apply didactic knowledge in clinical settings.
