Teaching

Dr. Osei Baah conceptualizes teaching as a dynamic phenomenon that exist at the intersection of three independent but linked constructs: 1) Scholarship, 2) Leadership and 3) Social responsibility. He believes these three ideals are the inalienable rights of each student in every virtual or in-person classroom. He strives to provide a conducive, interactive, knowledge sharing classroom environment with thought provoking course content to facilitate the nurturing of these values in students. By situating his teaching philosophy at the intersection of scholarship, leadership and social responsibility and employing a critical pedagogical approach to teaching, his students are well positioned to critique the status quo while recognizing the importance of people’s individuality in a diverse social world. His students recognizes that disease and health are not “a one size fit all” phenomenon. Instead, they understand that the disease-health relationship is multifactorial and requires innovative approaches to address global and domestic health challenges.

Research

As a nurse scientist focused on vulnerable populations, the fundamental goal of his research program is to inform, design, and test interventions that increase access to care, enhance health behavior, and improve outcomes in diverse population groups, particularly in resource limited neighborhoods.
