Program Overview
Emory's Blake Scholars Program provides tuition support for nurse practitioners enrolled in the School of Nursing post-graduate certificate psychiatric mental health nursing program with a focus on child and adolescent behavioral and mental health. Program graduates will have an additional opportunity to complete a year-long child and adolescent behavioral and mental health fellowship.

Curriculum
Study on Your Schedule
Courses will be delivered via synchronous/asynchronous classroom sessions with designated onsite or virtual intensives and clinical practica at sites where students are geographically located.
Graduates will be prepared to implement their psychiatric mental health advanced practice clinical judgement to assess, diagnose, plan, and implement holistic plans of care including psychotropic medication management; individual, group, and family psychotherapy and crisis management; and provide interprofessional collaborative care. Program graduates will link their advanced practice nursing skills with their knowledge of evidence-based research and practice to become highly effective practitioners.
During the program’s final clinical course, PMHNP Clinical Practice III: Advanced Integrative Clinical Practice and Advanced Clinical Practicum Immersion, Blake Scholars will be supported in their clinical focus of child and adolescent behavioral and mental health and complete their clinical training at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).

Simulation & Clinical Opportunities
You’ll graduate with more than 700 hours of directly-supervised clinical practice with an emphasis on a neurobiologically-informed approach to increasing core knowledge in the behavioral and biological disciplines. Our network of leading health care partners provide a rich variety of diverse clinical experiences. Next-generation simulation resources at the Emory Nursing Learning Center (ENLC) set the standard for nursing education.
Admissions
Requirements
To be considered for admission, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, NLNAC)
- An unencumbered RN license in the state of Georgia or a multistate RN license
- Direct patient care experience
- One year of full-time employment as an APRN with a pediatric focus of care
We strongly advise that your application, personal statement, and recommendations speak specifically to the relevant child and adolescent behavioral/mental health interest and experience that you believe make you a competitive applicant for the program and for consideration for the Blake scholarship.

- 2 to 3 references (preference for at least one to be a nursing supervisor)
- Students with international nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools for previous nursing coursework.
- Students with international transcripts for non-nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from World Education Services for previous non-nursing coursework.
- TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores are required if English is a second language. View Emory University's accepted tests policy.
Preferred Method: Choose Emory University - School of Nursing in the electronic transcript systems or have your school email your official transcripts to nursingquestions@emory.edu.
If your school does not participate in the electronic transcript system or cannot email your transcripts, please have them mail a hard copy to:

Not every state will allow a student to enroll in a distance education program or to participate in a clinical placement within the state. Please check that your state is eligible, and contact the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs if your state is not on this list.
Applicants to any of our distance-accessible courses / programs that may lead to professional licensure or certification should become familiar with the regulations governing distance accessible programs in their state. Licensure requirements vary from state to state and by professional organization. Prospective students residing in states other than Georgia should be aware of their state’s Board of Nursing and Department of Education rules and regulations.
