
Kayla Mays
About
Dr. Kayla Mays is a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has been adjunct and now part-time in Emory's PMHNP program since January 2022. Her full-time role as a PMHNP is at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on the Consult-Liaison Psychiatry team since 2018. Dr. Mays graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with her Masters and then again with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She has worked at Children’s since 2018 as a Nurse Practitioner and is now the APP Manager for the Behavioral and Mental Health Center. Her role is divided in 3 parts: clinical at Arthur M Blank Consult Psychiatry team, Manager of the inpatient and outpatient team of PMHNPs, and a clinical informaticist (Epic Provider Builder). Her child and adolescent specialties of interest are substance use disorders, somatic symptoms and related disorders, suicide prevention, and trauma. Dr. Mays has taught at UAB since 2020 as a clinical instructor and was an undergraduate mental health nursing clinical instructor at University of North Georgia for 3 years.
Dr. Mays is the Course Coordinator in PMHNP clinical courses.
