School of Nursing Diploma, Pinning, and Awards Ceremony Overview

As announced by the University this afternoon, School of Nursing graduates and guests will not attend tomorrow’s University-wide Commencement ceremony, due to limited seating at its new location. Graduates and guests can view the livestream, which begins at 8 a.m. If you have further questions, please visit the Emory Commencement website.

We remain excited about celebrating you at the School of Nursing’s Diploma, Pinning, and Awards Ceremony on Monday at 11 a.m.at the Emory Student Center. Additional details are as follows:

·      Doors open at 10 a.m.

·      Student lineup is at 10:15a.m. at the Dobbs Common Table inside the Emory Student Center.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the ceremony and the reception that will follow (rain or shine) at the School of Nursing building at 1520 Clifton Road.

School of Nursing Diploma, Pinning, and Awards Ceremony Overview

The School of Nursing Diploma, Pinning, and Awards Ceremony is open to all students who have been cleared to graduate. Participation in this ceremony is encouraged, but it is not mandatory. 

Location & Time 

  • Location:Emory Student Center
  • Date:  Monday, May 12
  • Ceremony Begins: 11 a.m.
  • Doors Open: Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony start time 
  • Reception: A reception will take place immediately following the ceremony at the School of Nursing's Plaza lobby (rain or shine)
    • Tickets are not required for the reception. All graduate guests are welcome to attend.

Student Lineup 

Students are required to line up at 10:15 a.m. Dobbs Common Table

Tickets

Each graduate will be allotted four (4) guest tickets. Graduating students will not need a ticket. Ticket quantity is determined by venue capacity and number of graduates.

If you do need extra tickets, please consult with your peers to find out if anyone may not be participating in the ceremony or will not be using all of their tickets.

If you have more guests than the allotted tickets, please encourage them to attend the livestream viewing at the School of Nursing in the P01 Auditorium. We are also exploring an additional livestream option closer to the Student Center, and we will provide an update if it becomes available.

Attire

All graduates are required to wear business casual clothing under their regalia. Flat shoes are recommended.

Parking and Shuttles

Your recommended parking deck is Michael Street located at 550 Rollins Way. The Diploma Ceremony reception will be held back at the School of Nursing (SON)following the ceremony. We recommend parking in Michael Street if you plan to end your day with us at the reception. There will be six (6) shuttles marked “M” or “Michael Street” that will run continuously between the Michael Street deck and Asbury Circle. The drop off location is a short distance from the student center. When the ceremony ends, the “M” shuttle will return guests to the Michael Street Deck for the SON Diploma Ceremony reception.

Photography

A photographer will be on site to take photos of each graduate after they receive their diploma cover and stole. Event photos will be available for download on this website a few weeks after the event.
