Teaching

Professionally, I am a Pediatric Nurse and Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at EmoryUniversity School of Nursing. Scholarship and practice in acute care pediatric nursing and prelicensure nursing education are supported by decades of practice in these areas. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with children and families in both primary care clinics as well as acute and critical care settings.

Teaching, scholarship, and practice support my overarching goal of developing students into nurses who value teamwork and practice with an approach to developmental and family centered care.

Consistent with the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing’s goal to develop leaders who practice at the highest level in both teaching and research, my teaching assignments following promotion have aligned with areas of focus identified above. Goals established during the interview process for promotion to Assistant Professor and my scope of practice in education have included clinical practice in acute pediatric nursing, interprofessional education, and refinement and development of education for clinical instructors.

Additionally, I worked with a team involving development and leadership of a research team which spearheaded a program supporting normalization of the critical care environment for infants and children

Research
