Staff Governance Committee

The Staff Governance Committee (SGC) was created in 2018 in response to unfulfilled needs for staff in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSN). The SGC is organized for the purpose of advancing the mission and goals of the NHWSN by examining matters related to all staff and advising the school’s leadership in cultivating the staff experience. The SGC advocates on behalf of staff members and contributes to the betterment of our diverse community through engagement, transparency, and partnerships within the NHWSN and Emory University.

Some of the duties of the Staff Governance Committee include:

  • Promoting a workplace of inclusion for diverse staff within the NHWSN
  • Working with NHWSN leadership to advocate for staff professional development
  • Supporting new staff in their experience as they join the NHWSN community
  • Encouraging staff inclusion in NHWSN culture and community by supporting attendance at school-sponsored events
  • Identifying staff seats and managing processes for staff participation on school committees

If there is ever an area for improvement that you would like to bring to the committee's attention, please email us at staffgovernance@emory.edu.
