About

Trisha Sheridan is an Associate Professor, Specialty Director of the Women’s Health/Gender Related Nurse Practitioner program and Program Director for the Georgia Forensic Nursing Network. She is currently board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Adults, Adolescents and Pediatrics through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN). Dr. Sheridan completed her DNP in nursing in 2015 at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston. Her research looked at the role of education and protocol implementation for HIV post exposure prophylaxis for adult survivors of sexual assault. Prior to her current position, Dr. Sheridan was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University and Forensic Nurse Examiner Program Coordinator at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station, TX. Dr. Sheridan has led inter-professional teams, developed education for nursing and medical residents, law enforcement, social services, and judicial and healthcare systems bettering patient outcomes.   Her expertise in education and practice has led to increasing the amount of nationally trained providers that are able to provide care to vulnerable populations. For her work in Women’s Health and Forensic nursing, Dr. Sheridan was inducted as a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2020.
