ABSN Summer Immersion

ABSN Student Immersion Locations (Academic Year 2018-2019)

Students will go on an immersion Experience to one of our sites for a 7-10 day immersion. These rich learning environments provide students with invaluable insights into diverse health care systems, community-based initiatives in different cultural settings.

Bahamas
Dates: June 2019
Eligibility: Available to ABSN students

Program Description: The group will be working in local clinics and schools and making home visits to residents to provide healthcare and health education.

Peru
Dates

Program Description: This group will be working in CerviCusco clinic along with physicians and nurses to provide women’s health screening.

Merida, Mexico

Program Description: This group will engage in community based nursing with a local organization serving disadvantaged women and children.

Moultrie, Georgia
Dates: June 2019
Eligibility: ABSN students

Program Description: This group partners with the Ellenton clinic and works with several universities of different health focuses (nursing, dental hygiene, physical therapy, etc.) to provide healthcare and education to migrant farm workers and their families in a low resource setting. This trip is part of the Farm Worker Family Health Program.

Grady Hospital
Dates: June 2019
Eligibility: ABSN students

Program Description: This group will work primarily with undocumented and/or uninsured ESRD patients receiving dialysis treatments through the Grady emergency department.

Trip Expenses

Total Cost of Trip for Accepted Students include:

  • Includes: airfare, lodging, transportation, and meals at the destination
  • Does not include transportation to/from Atlanta airport, meals at airports, additional luggage fees, country entry taxes.
  • Does not include special food cost due to dietary restrictions or allergies

Trip cost varies by site.
