Career Services

The goal of Career Services at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is to assist our nursing students and alumni with career planning, professional development opportunities, and job search preparation. We offer a variety of services such as:

  • Training for resume and cover letter writing
  • Teaching effective job search strategies
  • Demonstrating successful interviewing techniques
  • Conducting mock interview sessions (by appointment only)

As a part of the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs, the Office of Career Services is committed to providing excellent service and strives to equip our students with the skills, tools, and knowledge to help them become productive members of the healthcare workforce. The Office of Career Services is located in the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs on the Plaza Lobby of the SON.  We are open Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm.

Individual appointments  
You will be able to discuss your resume, interview strategies and techniques, job search process, and other career-related issues.  To schedule an appointment, call 404.727.7980 or email: ahoward@emory.edu.  Individual resume review sessions are held on Tuesdays and Fridays and can be scheduled online. 

Walk-in sessions  
Walk-in appointments will be taken as availability permits

Job postings are provided on the School of Nursing Facebook and LinkedIn web pages for students and alumni.  To access internal employment listings click here for the School of Nursing interal job posting board.  This site allows you to review current job listings.  If you would like to apply for positions or submit your resume for consideration you must create an account.

For part time on- or off-campus positions  at Emory College should contact the Career Center directly to obtain access to Eagle Ops.

LiquidCompass provides a powerful new job search resource for undergraduate and graduate students. LiquidCompass provides "hiring sheets" that contain all current nursing jop openings across all major employers including:

Lunch and Learn Workshops 
Several lunch and learn events are scheduled each semester and include resume writing and interviewing tips with nurse recruiters from Emory Healthcare and mock interview programs. 

Other special programming will include etiquette dinners and networking events such as speed networking which is coordinated by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the SON.

The Healthcare Career Fair is held once a year, in the spring semester, and provides an opportunity for recruiters to interact with outstanding nursing talent.  From early career nurses to seasoned nurses with leadership experience, Emory’s Healthcare Career Fair can offer you a uniquely qualified talent pool. Save the date for the annual Healthcare Career Fair on Friday, February 5, 2016.

We offer an internal job posting board at www.emorynursingocs.com. Create an account and post your current openings exclusively for Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing alumni and current students.

You can also send your job announcements to the Office of Career Services for immediate distribution to both students and alumni.  These opportunities are posted online and distributed in-house as soon as they are provided to the SON.  E-mail your announcement to Arnita Howard (ahoward@emory.edu) or fax it to 404.727.8509.
