Office of Administration

The Office of Business, Finance and Research Administration is responsible for maintaining the School’s compliance with the policies and procedures of the University and external agencies in relation to financial issues, human resources policies, and extramural funding.  In addition, our building resources and services and issues related to information technology are managed by the staff of this office.

Following are the names and titles of the staff of the Office of Business, Finance and Research Administration, with brief descriptions of how their roles in the School relate to supporting the faculty:

Susan Eckert, PhD, Senior Associate Dean for Administration, serves as the chief financial officer of the School and is responsible for ensuring the effective administrative functioning of the School in collaboration with the staff members of the Office of Business, Finance and Research Administration.  She can be reached at 7-4348, or via email at seckert@emory.edu.

Yasmin Ali, MPH, Senior Research Administrator, assists in the coordination of grant applications by reviewing applications for compliance with University and funding agency requirements.  She is responsible for reviewing grant application budgets and funding agency application pages; obtaining salary figures for project personnel for Emory employees who are outside of the School of Nursing; and for working with the Office of Sponsored Programs to ensure the timely processing of grant applications.  Yasmin also works with the faculty Principal Investigators when their grants are funded to have the grant budgets set up appropriately in the University budget system.  In addition, Yasmin works with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and the Office of Grants and Contracts Administration (OGCA) in conducting periodic pre-and post-award training opportunities for faculty and staff of the School.  She can be reached at 2-8544, or via email at yali@emory.edu.

Paul Burton, Building Manager, is responsible for monitoring the building facilities and serves as our liaison with the Facilities Management Division.  He can be reached at 7-8647, or via email at pburton@emory.edu.

Roman Damena, MA, Associate Director, is responsible for the appropriate utilization of all School financial accounts, including grants and contracts.  She directs the generation of the monthly budget statements for unit directors and Principal Investigators, and is responsible for identifying and resolving budget issues that relate to the appropriate use of the School accounts.  Call Roman for any questions you may have regarding the use of funds for purchases or personnel.  She can be reached at 7-8649 or via email at rdamena@emory.edu.

Teresa Fosque, Administrator, is responsible for all activities related to processing human resources actions, and is the School’s liaison with the Human Resources Division of the University.  Teresa handles posting position openings, ensuring that recruitment activities are handled appropriately, and setting up new employees (faculty and staff) on the University payroll.   In addition, Teresa is responsible for monitoring the appropriate use of the Purchasing Card and compliance with all University policies regarding procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable.  She is also responsible for reviewing contracts/agreements for service for the faculty and staff who collaborate with organizations outside the School.  She can be reached at 7-3379 or via email at tfosque@emory.edu.
