2007 Professional Values Celebration

Honor Council

Honor: “a good name…” and “a showing of usually merited respect….” These definitions, per Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, convey impressions of conviction, strength, patience, wisdom, honesty, integrity and regard for others. All of these reflect values that are strongly held by nurses. The Honor Code for the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is a vehicle to formalize the behaviors that we value and to perpetuate the tradition and reputation of our fine school. It is also a tool for each of us to use, as a personal reminder, when temptation for taking less than the high road may seem fleetingly justified. Having self respect and the respect of others are true and worthy accomplishments and indeed confirmation of the high standards we value.
