Welcome to the PhD in Nursing Program

Welcome to Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and the PhD in Nursing information site. Initiated in fall 1999, the PhD in Nursing program is designed to develop nurse researchers who will create knowledge to improve nursing and healthcare. Emory University's PhD in Nursing integrates the science of nursing with emerging and relevant content from clinical research and associated fields of health policy, ethics, and health outcomes research conducting research to address health issues of underserved and vulnerable populations is emphasized as well as the needs of persons with chronic illness.  Graduates are prepared as researchers who will integrate into interdisciplinary clinical and research teams.
