1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.
2. Right-click on the hard disk (usually drive C:) and select Properties.
3. Select the Tools tab.
4. Under Error Checking click on the Check Now button.
5. Check the box for Automatically Fix File System Errors. Hit OK.
6. Reboot the computer and error checking will run while it is starting up.
