Double-click the yellow shield icon in the system tray (bottom right of screen) to open Symantec AV.
Click on LiveUpdate button then hit Next button to get latest virus definitions.
In the left-hand pane click on Scan and then on Scan Computer.
In the right-hand pane check the box next to the drive you want to scan.
Hit the Scan button then wait for scan to finish. Scanning the entire C: drive can take a long time.
If any infected files are found have Symantec try to delete them.
If infected files can’t be quarantined or deleted go to http://www.symantec.com/search/, do a search on the virus name, and follow the cleanup instructions.
