Faculty appointed to the Clinical Professor position will have a national or international reputation as a clinical authority in his/her area of expertise and a record of academic achievement evidenced by serving as a first author in publications demonstrating clinical/educational expertise and/or appropriate scientific method, analysis, and evaluation of results.
Full Professors in all tracks provide leadership for the School’s programs and serve as role models and mentors for less senior faculty and students and must demonstrate comparable levels of achievement to their tenure track peers. Clinical track faculty must document continuing outstanding performance in service.
Teaching excellence at both the BSN and MSN levels is essential and established from course and peer evaluations as well as other supporting documents. The individual must have an established reputation as an educator both nationally and internationally, as demonstrated by invitations to speak at national and/or international conferences and meetings and by holding leadership positions in national and/or international organizations.
A minimum of four years at the rank of Associate Professor is required for appointment to Clinical Professor. If the candidate is a nurse, an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia is required. Applicants with other clinical specialties must hold current appropriate licensure or legal recognition in the State of Georgia. Professional and/or board clinical specialty certification is also seen as critical criteria for those teaching in programs preparing students for such credentialing.
RN Applicants are required to hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing, have experience as a skilled practitioner, possess teaching experience and an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia upon the date of hire. Advanced Practice Nurses will also need professional credentialing and appropriate licensure in accordance with the rules of the Georgia Board of Nursing upon the date of hire.
This position requires an earned doctorate in nursing, PhD, DNP or related field.
