Clinical Assistant Professor

Vacancy #: 200386
Grade: 099
Status: FULL-TIME

The Clinical Assistant Professor is designed for doctorally prepared faculty with a major focus in clinical practice. Faculty on this track will have as their primary purpose the provision of expert nursing care to patients in a variety of settings and systems. These faculty may participate in classroom teaching and will provide clinical experiences for students. Their research/scholarship will focus on clinical problems, serving either as investigator or the clinical expert on the research of others. The faculty will have a defined and productive area of clinical scholarship. Teaching expertise must be demonstrated by course and peer evaluations, invitations to speak at regional conferences or meetings and by leadership in local and regional organizations. Experience teaching at both the BSN and MSN level is strongly preferred.

If the candidate is a nurse, an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia is required. Applicants with other clinical specialties must hold current appropriate licensure or legal recognition in the State of Georgia. Professional and/or board clinical specialty certification is also seen as critical criteria for those teaching in programs preparing students for such credentialing. This position requires an earned doctorate in nursing, PhD, DNP or related field.

RN Applicants are required to hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing, have experience as a skilled practitioner, possess teaching experience and an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia upon the date of hire.  Advanced Practice Nurses will also need professional credentialing and appropriate licensure in accordance with the rules of the Georgia Board of Nursing upon the date of hire.
