Faculty appointed to the Clinical Associate Professor position will have a local, regional and national reputation as an outstanding clinician in his/her area of expertise, with their primary purpose the provision of expert nursing care to patients in a variety of settings and systems. The individual will have a record of academic productivity as demonstrated by incorporating a scholarly approach to a major field of clinical education al student and by serving as first or second author in publications demonstrating clinical educational expertise and/or appropriate scientific method, analysis and evaluation of results.
These faculty will participate in classroom teaching and will provide clinical experiences for students. Clinical Track Associate Professors must present an outstanding record in clinical professional service and teaching excellence at both the BSN and MSN levels. The individual’s teaching expertise should be demonstrated by invitations to lecture at regional and national conferences and by leadership in local and regional organizations as well as through course and peer evaluations. Clinical Associate Professors must demonstrate a level of achievement comparable to tenure track Associate Professors.
A minimum of three years at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor is required for appointment to Clinical Associate Professor. If the candidate is a nurse, an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia is required. Applicants with other clinical specialties must hold current appropriate licensure or legal recognition in the State of Georgia. Professional and/or board clinical specialty certification is also seen as critical criteria for those teaching in programs preparing students for such credentialing. This position requires an earned doctorate in nursing, PhD, DNP or related field.
RN Applicants are required to hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing, have experience as a skilled practitioner, possess teaching experience and an active license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia upon the date of hire. Advanced Practice Nurses will also need professional credentialing and appropriate licensure in accordance with the rules of the Georgia Board of Nursing upon the date of hire.
