About the School

§         History of great distinction: The School's mission is scholarship, leadership, and social responsibility.  US News and World Report ranks Emory’s School of Nursing in the top 10 percent of all nursing schools with graduate programs and 8th among private schools of nursing.  Currently, the school enrolls 201 BSN students, 148 MSN students, and 12 Ph.D. students.

§        Vibrant research program: Emory currently ranks 7th in NIH funding among comparable private schools of nursing - and tied for 3rd in National Research Service Awards. Faculty members also have funding from a wide array of external sources--one is an NIH funded exploratory nursing research center entitled "Center for Research on Symptoms, Symptom Interactions, and Health Outcomes."          

§         Opportunities for collaboration: The School stands between the Rollins School of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Cancer Society, the Winship Cancer Center, and Children's Hospital. Faculty have access to an outstanding academic environment which includes the Emory School of Medicine, the Carter Center, Wesley Woods Center and the Yerkes Primate Center. It is part of a leading University that was recently ranked one of the top 20 in the nation.

§        Strong international focus and reputation: The School houses the Lillian Carter Center for International Nursing, which has as its mission the improvement of the health of vulnerable people worldwide through nursing education, research, practice and policy.
