OPUS Access

Online Pathway to University Students (OPUS) is the online student information system through which you can update your personal information, view your financial aid, access your student account or student record and perform several other related items. If your address changes, please be sure to update it in OPUS as well as with our office. It is very important that you keep your information current to ensure that you do not miss valuable information sent from various offices at Emory University.

If you have not already done so, you can obtain your network ID and password, which is required for logging on to OPUS, at Emory Network ID and Initial Password.

Your new Emory University email address is your OPUS ID @emory.edu. Your password for OPUS and Emory email will be the same. Now is the time to begin using your Emory email address. All communications sent by the University or School of Nursing to your Emory email address are considered official. To view the official electronic communication policy, please refer to the Emory Information Technology Conditions of Use web site.

You are responsible for accessing, reading, and responding to your Emory email through the Emory webmail system. It is highly recommended that you access your Emory email at least once daily. Instructions regarding forwarding your mail to a personal email account or creating an email alias are available on OPUS.

Emory University Student Health Services Information
You will soon receive a packet of information mailed from Emory University Health Services (EUHS).  The information packet includes forms that must be completed and returned to the Office of Student Health Services by August 1, 2007.  You may also access these forms at www.emory.edu/UHS.  The EUHS requires:

Student Physical Information Form
Documentation provided by a health care provider that shows evidence of good physical health is required.  The physical examination results should be forwarded to the Office of Student Health Services before August 1, 2007.  Download and use this physical exam form if your health care provider does not provide their own.

Consent for Drug Screen and Criminal Background Check
In order to meet the requirements of many clinical sites, we require a drug screen and criminal background check of our students.  Prior to Orientation, you must provide consent by completing, signing and returning the forms you received in our mail packet to the Office of Admission and Student Services before July 2, 2007.

When you visit to complete the drug screen, be sure to take the appropriate form (included in your mail packet) for the provider to complete before August 15, 2007.  If there is not a testing lab location near you, please contact the Office of Admission and Student Services at 404-727-7980.

You can initiate the criminal background and employment check by visiting www.CertifiedBackground.com between July 15 and August 15, 2007.  On the main page click on “students”.  In the Package Code Box, enter the package code outlined on the instruction page of your packet that is relevant to you.  Once your order is submitted, you will receive a password to view the results of your background check.

In order for your background check to be processed, you must first sign and return the original copy of the enclosed Certified Background Release Form for Student Drug Testing and Background Investigations and the Emory University School of Nursing Release Form to the Office of Admission and Student Services by July 2, 2007.  Access to initiate the background check through www.CertifiedBackground.com will be available between July 15 and August 15, 2007.

HIPAA and Blood Borne Pathogens Compliance Training
To complete this training, you must visit Emory's Advanced Learning Platform. To begin the program you should login using your OPUS ID and the password "changeme". Note:  You do not need to register as a “New Student” in this system.  Once you login, you will be prompted to change the password.  You will be guided through the tutorial and prompted to take the tests by the program.  You are required to complete both training programs, HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogens, even if you have had previous training. Note: A score of 80% or higher is considered passing. You should allow 2 hours to complete the test and must finish it at one sitting. Only Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher can access ALP training courses.  Pop-up blockers must be turned off.  This program is not Apple MacIntosh compatible.
