International Health (MSN-MPH Only)

Program Description

The International Master of Science in Nursing/Master in Public Health program seeks to develop key nursing leaders in international health. The dual degree in international health is intended for nurses prepared at the bachelor’s level who desire to develop competencies in international public health and nursing.

Optimal deployment of the global nursing workforce relies on the advancement of the underlying science of nursing, the educational preparation of nurses, and sound public policy relating to organization and delivery of health services. Recognizing that nurses are a critical resource for the enhancement of global health, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing has collaborated with the Rollins School of Public Health to develop a program focusing on the role of nursing to address population-level health needs. The program is designed so that students may complete the academic requirements for both the Master of Science in nursing and the Master of Public Health degrees in five semesters. Students must apply both to the schools of Nursing and Public Health for the dual-degree status. The schools of Nursing and Public Health each assume certain competencies; therefore, the dual degree will be met in courses offered by the other school, and the degrees will be awarded upon completion of both the MSN and MPH requirements.
