Resources for International Students
As a student at the School of Nursing, you will also have access to many rich and wonderful opportunities that the Emory University community has to offer. The Office of International Affairs has a great website with information about and resources for the diverse Emory community. You can visit the website at www.international.emory.edu.
THE OFFICE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AND SCHOLAR PROGRAMS
The Office for International Student and Scholar Programs (ISSP) is responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of services and programs designed to assist international students and scholars. The ISSP staff is professionally trained to offer advising and programs about immigration and financial concerns, and academic counseling to help students and scholars understand and deal effectively with the U.S. academic system and university requirements. Staff members are available for discussion and counseling about personal matters, such as adjusting to a new culture, problems with friendships, family, roommates; cross-cultural misunderstandings; feelings of sadness, anger, and fear; concerns about returning home; and making life changes and choices. All international students are required to check in and go through an orientation with ISSP as soon as they arrive on campus. ISSP also gives international students the opportunity to become aware and become a part of the Emory and Atlanta community through numerous program offerings. For those who may be bringing family members, there is also a spouses group that provides support. International students are encouraged to take advantage of all that ISSP has to offer even before you arrive on campus. More information about ISSP and all the resources they have to offer can found at http://www.emory.edu/ISSP.
