Need-Based Programs
Federal Pell Grants
are awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or professional degree and who have
demonstrated financial need.
Nursing School Grants are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated financial need.
Georgia Tuition Equalization Grants are awarded to full-time
undergraduate students who are legal residents of Georgia. The application can be downloaded at www.gacollege411.org.
HOPE Scholarships may be awarded to full-time undergraduate
students who graduated from a Georgia high school and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students with prior bachelor’s degrees do not qualify for the HOPE Scholarship.
Scholarship Programs
The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University recognizes academic talent and leadership achievement through a variety of
scholarship programs. The information below outlines the various scholarship opportunities, eligibility
requirements, and deadlines. Unless otherwise noted, all awards are made without regard to financial need.
These scholarships may be combined with other need and non-need forms of financial aid. All
recipients of the awards listed must be accepted to a degree program in the School of Nursing by the deadline
and be full-time students.
Dean’s Scholarship
The Dean’s scholarship is awarded to incoming undergraduate and graduate students. Students must complete their admission application by January 15th. Awards are made to students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement. There is no separate application to complete. Dean's Scholars must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.25 GPA in order to continue receiving this award.
Named Scholarships
A variety of named scholarships are awarded by the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing to students who have been accepted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and the Master of Science in Nursing Program. Candidates for these scholarships must demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership skills and involvement in community service. No separate application is required.
Service-Based Programs
Nursing Employment and Tuition Award (NEAT) - Application
The NEAT award is granted to students who have been accepted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and who have demonstrated financial need. NEAT awards are designed to help students finance their education and to assist Emory University Hospital, Emory Crawford Long Hospital and Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital recruit and retain well-prepared professional nurses. In return for four semesters of financial support from one of the sponsoring hospitals, candidates agree to work as a staff nurse for the sponsoring hospital for two years after graduation from the BSN program. The value of the NEAT award is 50% of the cost of tuition. Applications must be received by March 1st.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta: Nursing Commitment to Employment and Study (CHANCES)
Chances is a partnership between Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Nell Hodgson WoodruffSchool of Nursing established to
provide tuition support for students while aiding Children’s Healthcare in recruiting and retaining qualified
professional nurses. This award is granted to students who have been accepted to the Bachelor of Science in
Nursing program. Applications are available through the website www.choa.org.

Methodist Ministerial Grant
The Methodist Ministerial Grant is awarded to undergraduate dependents of United Methodist clergy. The
award is valued at 45% of tuition and applications for the scholarship are available at : http://www.emory.edu/FINANCIAL_AID/undergraduates/nursing/download-forms.php.
