Fuld Fellowships
Eligibility
Candidates for the Fuld Fellowship must have a prior history of social responsibility activities and have definitive plans to work with underserved populations here or abroad. The student's application essay and interview should show:
- Strong and sustained commitment to issues of social responsibility with underserved populations;
- Strong leadership in areas of social responsibility;
- An ability to clearly and meaningfully define social responsibility and leadership;
- Articulation of a clear vision of the work they plan to do in the area of social responsibility with underserved populations upon graduation;
- Clearly describe their rationale for choosing nursing and their particular graduate program and how these choices relate to their future work with underserved populations; and
- How their particular strengths and gifts will contribute to the School of Nursing, Emory University and the profession of nursing.
Application
Qualified candidates must be accepted to the Segue Option Program, have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 in previous college-level work and a minimum GRE score of 1700 if taken before October 1, 2002 or 1100 on the revised scoring system. Eligible students may download an application or obtain an application by contacting the Office of Admission. Applications must be submitted by February 15th.
Supplemental Essay
Please submit a supplemental typed, narrative essay separately addressing each item 1-6 below. Use the item as a header for each of your 6 responses. Please limit your essay to 3 pages single spaced in 12 point font:
1. Your definition of social responsibility.
2. Your previous history of involvement in social responsibility activities, especially those related to underserved populations.
3. Your definition of leadership.
4. How you envision yourself as a leader.
5. Why you chose to pursue a nursing career, your choice of graduate nursing program and how those decisions relate to your vision of future work with an underserved population.
6. Identify those qualities and characteristics that make you a strong candidate for consideration.
