Types of Financial Assistance Available
Grants are gift funds
awarded to students based on financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid. Typical grants
received by Emory Nursing students are Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants,
Georgia Tuition Equalization Grants, and Emory University Nursing School Grants.
Loans are monies
borrowed by the student or the student's parents. Loans must be repaid. Typical loans received by Emory Nursing
students are Federal Stafford Loans, Federal unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Nursing
Student Loans.
Scholarships are funds awarded to students based on academic
or leadership ability. Scholarships do not have to be repaid and are awarded directly by the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of
Nursing.
NEAT and CHANCES are service-based programs. Students agree to
work for a sponsoring hospital in return for tuition assistance. NEAT and CHANCES awards are valued at fifty and
sixty percent of tuition respectively.
Service Cancellable Loans are borrowed monies that can be repaid by working in a specified geograhic location. Typical loans received by Emory Nursing students are Georgia Nurse Faculty loans, Emory Nurse Faculty loans, and Georgia Service Cancellable loans.
Emory Advantage is Emory University's financial aid initiative to help students from families with annual incomes $100,000 or less who demonstrate a need for financial aid. The program reduces the amount of money borrowed to pay for an undergraduate Emory degree. The goal is to make an Emory education attainable for any qualified student, regardless of income.
Eligibility Requirements to Receive Financial Aid
1. Students must be admitted
to a degree program in Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
2. Students must be U.S.
citizens or permanent residents to receive federal or state financial assistance.
3. Students must enroll at
least half-time (6 semester hours) to be considered for need-based aid. Aid will be prorated or cancelled for
students attending less than full-time (12 semester hours).
4. Students must enroll
full-time (12 semester hours) in order to be considered for and retain School of Nursing scholarships.
Steps to Follow to be Considered for Financial Aid

File the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after
January 1. The preferred deadline for completion of the
FAFSA is February 15. While no penalty will be assessed for filing
after that date, it is extremely important to file as soon as possible in order to insure that funds will be
available to you on the first day of the term. Emory's FAFSA school code is 001564.

Complete the
College Scholarship
Service (CSS) PROFILE registration form. The preferred deadline for completion of the PROFILE
is February 15. While no penalty will be assessed for filing
after that date, it is extremely important to file as soon as possible in order to insure that funds will be
available to you on the first day of the term. Emory's CSS code is 5187.

Submit signed copies of your U.S.
income tax return, schedules, and W-2 forms. These documents must be on file in Emory's Office of Financial Aid
no later than March 15.
