Managed migration
- A regional approach to comprehensively address the issue
of ensuring the delivery of quality health care to the people
in the Caribbean, in the midst of significant migration of
skilled professional nursing staff.
Regional Examination for Nursing Registration
- In collaboration with Nursing Councils of the Region,
CARICOM, Canadian Nurses Association, The University of the
West Indies, The University of Guyana, PAHO/WHO and funds from
CIDA, the Regional Nursing Body developed a Blueprint for the
Regional Examination Nurse Registration for CARICOM countries
between 1976 – 1983.
- The Regional Examination for Nurse Registration (RENR)
originated with the RNB’s objectives, firstly, to introduce
reciprocation for Registered Nurses among countries of the
Region; secondly, to improve on the system of examination
procedures, thirdly, to establish a pool of qualified nurses
as Regional examiners, PAHO/WHO and funds from CIDA.
The first RENR was administered in October 1993.
External Review Schools of Nursing
- Received and studied data from a Survey of Nursing
Schools of the Region done in 1964 and 1971
- Selected and adopted criteria and procedures for use in
accreditation of Nursing Schools
- Develop a system through which Nursing Schools will be
given recognition for their standard of Nursing Education, and
- Will give aid to those schools which have not been
granted accreditation, in order that they may meet the
criteria in two to five years.
