The Honorary Alumni Award

Susan Grant
Through her leadership as Chief Nursing Officer at Emory Healthcare, Susan Grant championed a partnership between the hospital and the School of Nursing to develop innovative teaching and research activities and made possible a new model for clinical education, the Dedicated Education Unit. As Interim Dean of the NHWSN, she provided leadership and continuity for the school to continue to move forward in its goals and mission, seeing the school through its ten-year accreditation review. Susan co-chaired the search for a new dean and acted as a constant advocate for the school during that search. In her position as interim dean, Susan attended SON campaign meetings, donor visits, alumni meetings, and hosted two pilot receptions for the SON alumni at Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown. In her ongoing role as Associate Dean for Clinical Leadership, the SON is fortunate to rely on Susan to help guide the school through implementation of clinical education initiatives like the DEU and other Quality and Safety endeavors that it undertakes.
