Women's Health Care (Title X)

The master’s degree program in Women’s Health is designed for graduates of Title X certified Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner programs.  The focus of the curriculum is on the theoretical, conceptual, and scientific underpinnings of advanced practice.  Students are awarded 12 semester hours of advanced placement credit in recognition of previous education and experience.  In addition, students must complete twenty-four semester hours of MSN courses.

Admission/Degree Requirements:
Students must fulfill the following requirements in order to pursue the program:
•    Meet the established criteria for admission to the RN-MSN or the MSN program.
•    Be a graduate of a Title X program accredited by the ANA, NANPRH, or NPWH.
•    Have certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
•    Be currently practicing in women’s health care.

Associate degree and diploma-prepared nurses complete seventeen semester hours of RN-MSN bridge courses prior to beginning the specialty curriculum.  For students with a BSN, the program can be completed in two semesters of full-time study.  Part-time study is also available.

Unique Highlights:  Students have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree without repeating previous course work.

Clinical Experience:  Most students continue to practice as Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioners at their place of employment and do not have supervised clinical experience during their graduate program.

Career Opportunities:  Graduates have opportunities to advance to leadership positions within their workplaces in both the public and private health sectors.
