Career Services

Overview

The goal of Career Services at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is to assist our nursing students and alumni with career planning, professional development opportunities, and job search preparation. We offer a variety of services such as:

  • Training for resume and cover letter writing
  • Teaching effective job search strategies
  • Demonstrating successful interviewing techniques
  • Conducting mock interview sessions (by appointment only)

As a part of the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs, the Office of Career Services is committed to providing excellent service and strives to equip our students with the skills, tools, and knowledge to help them become productive members of the health care workforce. Students

The Office of Career Services is located in the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs on the Plaza Lobby of the SON.  We are open Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm.

Individual appointments  
You will be able to discuss your resume, interview strategies and techniques, job search process, and other career-related issues.  To schedule an appointment, call 404-727-7980 or email: ahoward@emory.edu.  Individual resume review sessions are held on Tuesdays and Fridays and can be scheduled online. 

Walk-in sessions  
Walk-in appointments will be taken as availability permits 

Job Postings 
Job postings for full-time nursing positions, work-study openings, and internship opportunities are posted in the Eagle Opportunities (Eagle Ops) career services portal.  Follow this link and use your Emory University network ID and password to log in.  

Job postings are also provided on the School of Nursing Facebook and LinkedIn web pages for students and alumni.  To access internal employment listings click here for the School of Nursing interal job posting board.  This site allows you to review current job listings.  If you would like to apply for positions or submit your resume for consideration you must create an account.

Lunch and Learn Workshops 
Several lunch and learn events are scheduled each semester and include resume writing and interviewing tips with nurse recruiters from Emory Healthcare and mock interview programs. 

Other special programming will include etiquette dinners and networking events such as speed networking which is coordinated by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the SON. 

Health Care Career Fair 
The Health Care Career Fair is great opportunity to connect with recruiters from the local Atlanta area as well as health care systems across the southeast region.  These organizations are seeking qualified SON students and graduates for open positions.

The Health Care Career Fair is held once a year, in the spring semester, and provides an opportunity for recruiters to interact with outstanding nursing talent.  From early career nurses to seasoned nurses with leadership experience, Emory’s Health Care Career Fair can offer you a uniquely qualified talent pool.

Job Postings 
Eagle Ops is Emory University’s online job and internship database for undergraduate and select graduate candidates.  Use this link to post nursing positions for new nurse graduates ,nurse practitioner, and alumni. There is no charge for this service. Jobs will be reviewed and approved within 72 hours. Please register your organization by clicking here. Once your registration is complete you may submit your current job openings. 

We also offer an internal job posting board.  Click here to create an account and post your current openings exclusively for Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing alumni and current students.
